 Marathon Weekend!
9/11/05:  Elson and the Soul Barkada did a great set at FPAC - with the 8-person lineup for the first time - and at Fais Do-Do later that night where the venue served free Cajun cuisine and raised over $2000 going to the American Red Cross' Hurricane Katrina fund. Whole Foods Market matched it with a corporate donation, resulting in over $4000 going to the Gulf Coast!





 


FPAC 2005 & Katrina Benefit
9/10/05: Elson and the Soul Barkada will be playing two shows on the same day! Making its second appearance at the Festival of Philippine Arts and Culture (FPAC), Elson and the Soul Barkada will be per-forming in a daytime performance on Saturday, Sep-tember 10. ESB was one of the most celebrated acts at last year's festival!

That night, the band will be playing at Cafe Club Fais Do-Do for a special benefit concert to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. For more information, please visit the performances section.

Live in Chinatown
7/30/05: Elson and the Soul Barkada will be performing - for the first time - two sets at their upcoming show on Saturday, July 30 at Chow Fun restaurant in Los Angeles' Chinatown at 9pm. For more information and details, please visit the performances section.

Congrats Perf!
7/15/05: Congratulations to guitarist Perf De Castro and his wife Fidelis on the birth of their baby boy Julian on July 15! Daddy, mommy, baby and big brother are said to be doing fine.


2005 Lotus Festival
7/10/05: Elson and the Soul Barkada will be headlining the final day of the 2005 Lotus Festival in Los Angeles' Echo Park on Sunday, July 10 at 7:30pm. For more information and details, please visit the performances section.

Elson to Hold Songwriting Class in July
6/21/05: Learn to express yourself with a song! For those of you in Los Angeles, In conjunction with FilAm ARTS, Elson will be teaching a community-oriented songwriting class on Thursdays from July 14 to August 4 at the Hollywood Youth and Family Center. Class is open to all, but some sort of musical ability is preferred. Cost of the course is $45 per person ($25 for people 18-21). For more information, call FilAm ARTS at  323.913.4663.

Tsunami Disaster Benefit
1/12/05: Elson and the Soul Barkada's January 15th show at Fais Do-Do will be a benefit concert to aid victims of the Dec 26 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami. Proceeds will go to American Red Cross disaster relief efforts. More details in the performances section.

Happy '05!
1/1/05: Elson wishes you a new year! A lot of great things will be happening this year, starting with a new show at Fais Do-Do on January 15 with a couple new songs added to the set!

Happy Birthday Elson!
11/25/04: Birthday greetings go to Elson on November 25, but he'll actually celebrate it a few days later on Dec 4 with a party and performance in Los Angeles.

Papa's Got A Brand New Bag-asao!
11/5/04: Congratulations go to sax player Mike Bagasao and wife Joy, who gave birth to their first child, a healthy baby girl named Michaela! Fatherhood is obviously his first priority, but hopefully he'll still find time to play some shows. 

Metal Elson?!?
10/13/04: A Southern California-area remixer who goes by the name of Carlomusprime has made a punk/metal remix of Elson's retro '80s-inspired soul tune, "Love Fall Down." It's umm...different! Click here to listen.

9/18/04: The San Diego-based Internet radio program The Go Guys Show gave Elson's "Preview Sampler EP" High praise and a  5 out of 5 rating!

Website Launches
 5/31/04: Singer/songwriter/ musician Elson inaugurates his new site, Elsongs.com to promote and present his latest soulful music endeavor. The highlights of the site include downloadable mp3-format singles, a calendar section of upcoming live concert dates and information on his forthcoming album, Elsongs1: The Purpose of Innocence, slated for release this fall.

Live Band Coming Together
5/24/04: Elson is currently rehearsing with his live band, which is slated to begin performing around Los Angeles this July. Elson describes the musicians as "good friends"' and "extremely talented." Check the Band section for profiles on the band members.
